Kenya is one of the few countries on earth where you can watch a lion hunt at dawn and swim in a coral lagoon before the week is out. This journey does exactly that: six days of classic safari, then two unhurried nights on the Indian Ocean to let it all sink in.
There are no international flights within the itinerary — only a single one-way domestic hop from Diani or Mombasa back to Nairobi at the end, so you fly home from where you arrived.
A morning-by-morning account of the journey as it unfolds. Everything is flexible — this is a shape, not a script.
A Wecam guide meets you at Jomo Kenyatta International and drives you into the city — jacaranda avenues, green uplands, the Ngong Hills in the distance. The afternoon is yours to rest, or to visit the Giraffe Centre and the Sheldrick elephant orphanage for the evening feed. Dinner and a soft first night in Africa.
You travel west through the Rift Valley to the Mara, reaching camp for lunch. Within the hour you are out on your first game drive across the greatest wildlife stage in Africa: lion prides stirring in the long grass, elephant families moving in procession, the sky turning gold. Dinner by lantern with the bush close around you.
A dawn start when the light is pure and the cats are still hunting, then a whole day out with a picnic breakfast beside a hippo pool. Cheetah on the termite mounds, leopard in the riverine forest, and — between July and October — the wildebeest migration massing on the banks of the Mara River. An optional sunrise balloon floats you above it all.
A morning game drive, then a scenic descent into the Great Rift Valley. Naivasha is a freshwater jewel fringed with fever trees, and an afternoon boat cruise drifts you past hippo pods and fish eagles. A walking safari on Crescent Island brings you on foot among giraffe, zebra and waterbuck — a rare, intimate change of perspective.
The road turns south across Maasai land to Amboseli, a country of dust, mirage and the vast snow-capped dome of Kilimanjaro. Your afternoon game drive introduces the park's giants, wading deep into the green swamps to feed. Dinner outdoors with the mountain a ghost on the horizon.
Two game drives bookend the day. At dawn Kilimanjaro stands clear and immense; by mid-morning cloud crowns the peak. You track lion on the plains, find cheetah in the open grass and photograph elephant bulls with the mountain behind — the frames that define a Kenyan safari. A sundowner on the ridge closes the bush portion of your journey.
After a last early game drive you transfer to the coast — by road through the Tsavo country, or by a short scheduled flight to Ukunda for those who prefer the quicker route. Diani greets you with powder-white sand, warm turquoise water and the lean of coconut palms. The rest of the day is unstructured: swim, sleep, and let the safari settle.
Nothing is required of you today. If you want the ocean, we can arrange a dhow sail to the Kisite Marine Park for snorkelling among reef fish and dolphins, a kitesurf lesson, or a morning in the Shimba Hills. If you want nothing at all, there is a lounger with your name on it and a long, slow lunch of grilled seafood waiting.
A final morning by the water, then a short one-way flight from Diani (Ukunda) or Mombasa to Nairobi, timed to connect with your international departure. Our team meets you at Wilson or JKIA and sees you through — full camera, full heart, a designer already planning your return.
